Chapter 2 (page 18)

But as the years moved on a magical thing began to happen. The small items began to “dry up.” Dad began to realize that he would soon need to take on the larger things like getting the body work completed, engine and transmission work done, paint and interior. And the focus began to shift to a much bigger picture.

And so the weekend projects now were removing – literally everything – from the car, including rust, permanently mounted items and of course body damage caused by yours truly! Now we were cutting, scraping, grinding and whatever else was necessary to remove anything and everything and take it down to the bare shell. So, many hours and many dirty days of laying on the driveway and garage floor, until we had the car, down to the absolute bare bones and then another magical thing happened – the car was ready to go and be dipped! Bruce had recommended that the car be dipped into a pool of “something that removes everything” and it was ready to go. When the Porsche returns from this step, we would actually begin to prepare to put things back on the car!!!
