Chapter 2 (page 17)

So after knocking on the door, the man came to the door and explained that it had been his son’s car and sadly he passed away. (At this point I had a complete recall as I remember my former girlfriend calling me and telling me what happened. He died in a car accident when leaving the restaurant one night. We both shared the same name - Sean) He felt he kept the car long enough and told my Dad he’d like $1000 for it. My Dad said, how about $900? So after a brief pause, he agreed and my Dad hit up his “Stash” and paid the man the $900. We pulled the car out, charged the battery, cleaned up a few things and drove it back the 2-3 miles to Red Hill! Can I just tell you how thrilled my mother was when we showed up with a second (kind of beat up) old Porsche to park in the driveway? About as thrilled as my Dad was when I showed up with a second P.O.S. MGB on my buddy’s flatbed that I bought for 50 bucks! But that’s a story for another book – LOL!

But the 912 provided some much needed “fun driving” as we drove it up and down the nearby roads and such, but more than that it provided funds! We pulled the engine and transmission out. The engine would be rebuilt and kept for the Speedster, the transmission sold for about 500 bucks at a Porsche swap in Hershey, PA. But I sold the rest of the 912 on eBay for $2500! I sold it as a complete restoration or racing conversion. I sold it in 4 days and shipped it to Europe! Another gem found not 5 miles from Red Hill! A huge boost to the restoration effort!
