Chapter 1 (page 5)

As it happened, Doctor Tucker, would visit Kelly Volkswagen and have a chance meeting with a young 20-some year old Army veteran, training to be an optician with a wife and 2 babies.

Dr. Tucker enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the young lad remembering his earlier years and noting some fond memories with him as he realized that his aspirations for the car closely matched his own. As it turns out, John Kreuz was from a family that had a passion for cars, German engineering and just about anything that had a motor on it - this was given to them by their Dad (My Grandfather). John and his brother George, spent their days working on cars, boats, motors and anything mechanical. They had a habit of trying to make anything with a motor go faster! So, It was over a glass of iced tea that the car found its 3rd and current owner in 1969. The transaction was simple. If not for the receipt handwritten on the back of an optical prescription slip, it was a hand-shake deal. The kind of deals that simply don't happen anymore in this day and age. The terms were agreed upon, the prescription slip (sales receipt) signed by both and sealed with a smile and a handshake.
