Chapter 1 (page 4)

So as it went Dr. Tucker was starting out life and seemed to have the world by the tail, he then happened upon the next major event in his life....a sweetheart named Doris. As Mrs. Tucker recalled in a phone conversation in 2015, her first date with her future husband was in the Speedster. She told me she still remembers it to this day. The dates were plenty and consistent and the young doc always came, happy, snazzy and dressed in his white '56 Speedster. It seemed a trio of sorts and the three of them were on cloud nine.

As the story progresses, Dr. Tucker proposed to Doris, she accepted and they began their life as Dr. & Mrs. Duane Tucker. After the internship Dr. Tucker landed a position in the famous Motor City of Detroit Michigan, so they packed up and headed north to the winters of ice & snow. As it happened, the stay in Michigan was all but several years and then the Tuckers moved across the Great Lakes and would ultimately settle in Buffalo NY. And I probably don't need to explain it to my readers, but going from Detroit to Buffalo, weather wise, is the proverbial "jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!" However, undeterred by the prospect of nasty weather, the Speedster made the journey with the couple and young family. Dr. Tucker wouldn't have it any other way.

So the Tucker's laid down their roots in Buffalo, NY and their lives took on that stage of life that we all cherish. A flourishing career for Dr. Tucker, a new house, kids and all of the trimmings that go along with raising a family in "every-town USA." All the while Dr. Tucker continued his love affair with his beloved Speedster.

Then, at some point in history, all of the car companies were releasing their new models for the upcoming year and something changed in the Doc - well - at least temporarily. The new snazzy Audi sports car grabbed his attention. As Mrs. Tucker recalls, Dr. Tucker began talking about this new model and "upgrading" his Speedster to the new Audi. She couldn't believe it! She recalled the memory and remembers questioning him many, many times about making the switch. She couldn't believe that he was actually considering it. But, as she recalls, his career was flourishing, he had some extra funds available and it seemed like "the thing to do." He seemed pretty intent on the upgrade, yet still had some trepidations. He didn't want to sell the car to just anyone. He was careful in looking for a buyer. In the end he decided to go through with the purchase of the Audi, yet as recalled by Mrs. Tucker, she knew in her heart he shouldn't have done it.
